Long before twerking became a fad, the Luba people of Central Africa were already dancing. But it isn’t about performance or provocation. It’s about coming back to your body in a way that feels natural, grounded, and instinctive. Rooted in the Bantu heritage of the Kasai region, this traditional movement practice was originally used to celebrate life, fertility, and connection. At its core is a simple idea: the body holds knowledge we’ve learned to tune out. In this session, you won’t be learning choreography or trying to “get it right.” You’ll be guided through rhythm, breath, and gentle movement to explore what it feels like to move from your body’s root, rather than from self-consciousness or control. Open to all genders, this is a space where anyone can engage with the practice in a way that feels comfortable and true to them. You can move as much or as little as you like.
